Sebastian Errazuriz a Chilean designer in collaboration with Horm, produced the Metamorphosis shelf. This is a hand carved piece that follows the organic designs of an ivy tracker. The shelf is an attempt by the artist to recreate the old ivy developing in the residence he spent his childhood in. At that time collectively with his brothers they used the thick branches that ran along the wall as a natural platform to storing toys in the garden. This implies he was an artist even because his childhood, when he identified utility in those decorative ivy branches. Metamorphosis was carved directly on the actual size drawings that the artist made on big wood panels that had been created in Italy with carpenters from the furniture company Horm. The shelf is portion of a set of furniture pieces that will be displayed in the exhibition “Stunning Premonitions” from 28th of April till the 3ed of June at the Cristina Grajales Gallery in New York.
