My Treasured Heirlooms

First of all I need to alert all of you to something that has come up this past week. I received an email from a woman who didn't realize what "goodies" I have on my "sidebar" — all those little "thingies" on the sides of the actual blog posts. Well, when she saw that I had a blogging tutorial and a blogging etiquette she really liked it. I put them there sometime last summer from a tutorial I did for an ebay group I belong to. A lot of chicks were having trouble getting around Blogger so I did this tutorial to help them. I'm very computer savvy and this has helped them quite a bit. I'm happy to help anyone who needs it. But if you'll check on the right side you'll see the "Blogging Tutorial" and the "Blogging Etiquette" so you can click on it and be taken directly there. You'll also see that I've updated my "Home" and "Laundry Room" widgets on the side. I took some newer photos recently and added them there. You are most welcome to view it. I try to keep my blog free of superfluous and extraneous stuff but I do add a few things from time to time. Sometimes things get lost in the "fluff"!! But check it out and see what you might learn.

I received a package a few days ago and when I opened it up I just squeeeeeealed, chicks. It has pink peanuts in it. Leave it to Cathy to simply delight my senses with what I won from her. Well, actually, I won a gift certificate and this is what I chose. I do believe this magnificent cherub included extra things in it! Hmmmmm, just a guess, but I don't remember a roses pitcher or tea towels being ordered. And I was just thinking a week or two ago how much I needed some new tea towels. Just brightened my day, I tell ya!

These vintage glass bottles are gorgeous and I'll just put them around where they'll look best but right now I'm thinking the guest bath would be a nice spot to put them.

These are absolutely the most real faux candies or truffles I've ever seen or felt. They have a heft to them. I love everyone's faux candies though, truly I do. Cathy had them nestled on pink crinkle paper in a little bag - just like you'd buy them in a candy store.

Just look at this little beauty. All pink and roses. It's not real big but it could hold some chocolate for a cold winter's night snack.

Thank you, thank you, Cathy, from the depths of my heart. I shall treasure them and they'll be passed on to my daughter.

Show and Tell Sunday "Collections"

Soooooo, I'm sitting here thinking I've forgotten to do something and at 8:30 at night it hits me....Show and Tell Sunday! I'm bored with Love Bunny still in San Diego and not hearing another human voice except for the infrequent phone calls from him and about to go stir crazy with no human being to chatter to..........*Sigh*............ So here we are taking photos of my favorite collection - outside of ROSES, I mean! Now, I'm scurrying around taking pictures at night and hurrying to post them in time for tomorrow. Let's begin......

This is my absolutely favorite pitcher. I actually gasped when I opened the box about 8 years ago. Even hubs said it was beautiful when I showed him that night. I bought it on ebay. Majolica. Gorgeous!!

Sorry, but I ain't takin' the flowers outta the pitchers! My second favorite pitcher.

Another one with the most gorgeous faux roses you've ever seen or felt.

Not especially pretty but I had to have it. It's quite heavy and filled with liquid I can barely pour out of it so I don't use it very often anymore.

I know, I know, it's blue! But I love the delicate lines of it and the fruit design of it. Very graceful looking.

It's PINK!! What can I say?!?! Well, pink and yellow which is one of my favorite color combinations.

It's got ROSES! What else can I say about this one? Hmmmm. Love it.

The fact that it has roses on it overshadows the robins egg blue color. I love that color. Heck, I love the name: robins egg blue.

This vase came to me with flowers from my daughter. I kept it because it's purple - her favorite color. You should see her house! BUT surprise, it's plastic! Yep, but I display it and it's so light that I can lift it with liquid in it with no problem.
I simply loved the rose and the little "ribbon" on it. Pink with purple polka dots. Cutesy. ;-)

Another one with roses and a ribbon. I love this one also. Very delicate looking in person.

This is a Lenox china pitcher. Not very big at all. It was a gift to me about 20 years ago from a friend then. Very fragile and delicate also. That's fruit on it. Lovely and elegant looking.

This is kind of weird colors but the price was right at the thrift store. Plus I thought it was cute. The brown flowers are not very pretty but it looked like it needed a good home. :-) It has a good home NOW!

A Sweet Collection

I collect a lot of "things" - especially if it is "eye candy"! Hmmm, I've never collected husbands though - still on the first after 47 years. Anyway, no matter. I do have several collections. My sweet hubby, Jack, would tell you that my fabric collection tops the list, but truthfully, I've seen women with far more fabric than I have! Mine is just a drop in the hat compared by my sister-in-law's stash.

But I love beautiful pitchers. I have more than these below but these are the prettiest ones. So I thought I'd show you some of them. I decided to group them together as collections should be. I don't always follow my own advice but in this instance it does present quite a show.

This is a burgundy lacquered sofa table in my small "entry way" and that term I use loosely because you're right in my living room when you enter - the effects of downsizing, but much, much easier to clean this house than the last one which was about 3 times as large. So I put them on there as a group.

The one on the left is a MacKenzie-Childs look-alike and that's why I bought it. I love their pitchers but this one was a fraction of the cost. The little blue one, 2nd from left, is a darling blue raised fruit pitcher. The 3rd from left is a majolica one I purchased on ebay several years ago and when I received it and opened the box I actually gasped at the beauty of it. So did Jack! It is stunning in real life. The 4th from left is covered with roses; therefore, I had to have it! The 3rd from the right is just an adorable one with a polka dot bow and a rose but very unusual looking. The 2nd from right is again roses but the colors are a bit unusual but it has a graceful feminine line and so it had to be in my home! The 2nd from the right is also a very unusual one because of the top part which is flowers but the bottom almost looks like a basket weave and the handle reminds me of a twisted rope. The vase on the right is an unusual color of green - almost lime - but it is also lovely and had to be in my home also.

So enjoy the close ups below that I've put on here for you to see.

The little "boxes" are another thing I love to collect. Those I got at Macy's, which is my favorite store in the world.

The little bowl on the left matches the pitcher so I just filled it with faux grass and added roses to it. I'm a rosy kinda chick!! Hah......
