Maybe it’s the recent drop in temperature. Maybe I’m longing for bright lights to chase away the dark and the gloom. Maybe it’s the fact I’ve been seeing Christmas merchandise in stores for MONTHS now so it feels long past due – but I’ve been tempted to get out my Christmas decorations – something I’ve never, EVER done before Thanksgiving (and have been a little judgmental of those who do – truth be told).
So, I might have let out a delighted gasp when I saw the store had Christmas stuff out when I was there last night taking photos. There’s not tons but enough Christmas plates and small decorations to make the place feel festive and holiday-ish!
We have a very talented team of volunteers (photo in sidebar is somewhat out of date – though many pictured are still part of the current design team) who create the beautiful vignettes and do the decorating and they do a SUBPREB job! I always enjoy walking into the store each week to see what magic they’ve created!
And let’s take a look at some of the pieces they had to work with this week – shall we…(remember the Furniture Gallery is another way to view our inventory):
gorgeous mahogany attorney or banker’s desk (the pull out piece on the guest/client side was for signing documents) – priced $215
beautiful Carolina leather two piece sectional in excellent condition – priced $535; lovely glass, brass and silver round coffee table is $115
did I show you this chair last week? I’m really drawn to it! It’s by Walter E. Smithe and it’s a recliner in great shape! Priced only $85
sweet table, one leaf and six chairs – two of the chairs have different seat fabric than the other four – in good condition – priced $295
this is a fantastic two piece Thomasville lighted china cabinet for $295 (I really like the different heights at the top of the piece)
antique Eastlake elm secretary – gorgeous! Priced $425
here’s another gorgeous leather piece – this time by Walter E. Smithe and it’s in really great condition and priced $415. I love this color leather.
very nice IKEA sofa priced $145
I love furniture that can multi-task and this large square coffee table also provides tons of storage (and looks great to boot!). Priced $165
Broyhill sofa in a color and fabric that seems to change in the light – priced $115
gorgeous four panel screen – finished on both sides – priced $155
wonderful café height butcher block maple table (top surface needs a little work due to some small stains) and six stools – all for $215
there are three of these dark brown leather chairs – all in pretty good condition – priced $25 each
this is a FANTASTIC long table (7’6” x 3’) donated by the Carol Stream, Public Library (aren’t libraries amazing places?!). Solid. Top is Formica (I think) and it does have a weird part that’s damaged/lighter (see it in the second photo?). Still a great piece (can you tell I love it?). Priced $75
excellent condition set by Vanguard – the loveseat is $65; matching sofa is $85
another very nice living room set – this time by Highland House by Hickory Inc. Loveseat for $75; matching sofa for $95
lovely oval glass top coffee table with metal base for $65
boy-oh-boy – look at the lines of these SIX chrome chairs – yes, you’d probably want to re-upholster them (not that the current upholstery is bad but the formal material doesn’t quite match the more modern arms/base – though to each their own!). Price for all six is $180
Haha! How fun is this black micro-fiber chair with the curvy arms? VERY FUN! Priced $65
I love the lines of this table with five chairs – but the caning on all five chairs needs to be repaired/replaced – set is priced $135 for all
this is a cool retro three piece lighted storage set. Smoked glass, chrome trim, white door and drawer fronts – in great condition. Middle piece has a drop down writing desk (or bar?). Selling them individually. Priced $145 each
here’s another café height table – this time square – with two stools – priced $85 (this is a fantastic deal!)
low curio cabinet with reddish wood – priced $95 (excellent condition)
more fabulous leather! This time by Ashley Furniture and both pieces are in excellent condition! The sofa is priced $325 and the matching loveseat is $275
So, dear reader – if you need a little pick-me-up today, tomorrow or Saturday I’d highly recommend a stop in the store to revive your spirits and put a smile on your face!
No construction photos this week ‘cause it was too stinkin’ dark when I got to the store at 5:00 p.m. to take any!
