Another Rant

I see a lot of women with copyrights on their photos. I'm not at all territorial about my photos. If you want to use any of them, even my personal ones, you have my permission. It's a form of flattery. I wouldn't put them out in the public domain if I didn't want them looked at and used. As I said, I'm not territorial. But...

I see some out there from other sites—and I'm talking graphics sites here—and women/bloggers are putting their "copyright" on them. They cannot be your copyright if you get them from a graphics site to use and put your name on them! How ridiculous can you be? And then you complain about someone taking your photos to show how beautiful your products are??? Puhleeeeze! How ridiculous can it get? Be flattered that someone considers them beautiful enough to use them. Rant over. ;-)

Another cottage in Carmel. I think this is a bakery.

Lovely textured and colored window probably in France or Italy.

Urn holding a gorgeous plant.

A sweet cozy outdoor room.

When I saw this little lace dress with pink ribbons on it, I immediately thought of a blessing dress for a little girl.

I would love to have this to display in my home. It just touches my heart in a number of ways.

A lady finger dessert with roses thrown in. Yuuummm.

Just a little bling thrown in for ya, chicks. :-)

A mailbox? Cute, whatever it is.

Every time I see baskets like this I want some, but I know I'll never get them.

Another upscale sun room not many of us can afford. I can appreciate it though; it's gorgeous.

I do love these chippy old boxes for putting on patios and porches though.

I think a pink plastic bucket like this would be just fine for a bouquet of roses.

While I wouldn't want to live here, I'd sure love to visit and have lunch on that dock. That would be fun.

Now, have a cupcake and enjoy your own life!

Ramblings 10/31/2012

Our hearts went out to those on the east coast enduring the hurricane Sandy. We have relatives in Pennsylvania, Cape Cod, West Virginia, Virginia and New York. They all told us they were hunkering down awaiting the fury. We have faith in God that they'll be protected. It isn't easy having to wait out Nature's fury but it has been this way since the beginning of time. If ye are prepared, you need not fear. And hubs and I are temporally prepared. I need all the help I can get spiritually though. And I'm working on that! But we pray several times a day in this house and truly anguish over the loss of lives. Our hearts and our prayers are definitely with you. I have no doubt that members of our Church will be the first to be on hand with provisions. As we understand it, trucks from Salt Lake City are awaiting entry into the devastation. God bless you all.

I haven't cooked breakfast for years, and I mean years! Hubs does it on Saturdays and Sundays. He does it mostly for himself as he's afraid I'll break the yolk in his fried eggs. Heaven forbid! He's come unglued over this happening and refuses to let me touch his eggs anymore. Now, consider the fact that we can take out another egg and replace the broken one, but that's not good enough. Hence, he does the breakfast on weekends. During the week, it's breakfast cereal or just toast for us.

Recently, there was a headline on a news site on the internet (the only way we get news) and it told about a man who won a roach-eating contest. The prize was a python. (Yeah, I know: WHY???!!!) Anyway, I finally read it later in the day and told hubs about it. He asked me why I'd read something like that. My answer was: I wanted to see what STUPIDITY looked like. My expectations were not disappointed when I saw his photo. Gag! Ooooh, and the python? Went to his estate. Truly!

Hubs is a really good hubby. If I get some candy for a present, he'll not ask for any. Oh, I offer it and sometimes he'll take some but he always says it's my gift and I should enjoy it. I have to tell you these thoughts are not reciprocated. He always will share with me. So I have to give him some and make him take it. After all, I can't eat a whole box of candy...well, okay, not easily then. :-) But recently I had a great hunger for Turtles, the chocolate pecan ones. He got a couple of double Snickers bars. He ate one and put it back. Then, all of a sudden it was GONE. I warned him! He's a forgiving kind of guy though. (I have no control over chocolate, none whatsoever!)

For those of you who are young, and I'm using that term loosely as we're in our 70s, there is romance after 30. Yes, there sure is!

This looks a bit bigger than a traditional garden shed but I think it's cute.

A city high-rise patio with plants growing and a place to sit and relax.

I have a "branch tree" that I hang little glitzy balls and things people have given me on it. Much bigger than this one but it sure makes a statement on my plant shelf.

Another romantic bath.

Lovin' the colors here.

Even a Chinese- or Oriental-style dining room can be made up-to-date with pink and white.

Besides the roses, I also like the chair.

I just had to show you this dress with these magnificent rose-type sleeves. I think it's one of the most gorgeous styles I've ever seen.

Lilacs and vintage rustic bottles make a beautiful vignette.

To me this almost looks like a room in a house in Australia. It looks like their style.

Just a lovely colorful spot and yard.

This says it all.

Exquisite staircase with a dining alcove.

More pink flowers in beautiful containers.

Sweet kitchen I could live with also. ;-)

Linking up with Open House Party.

On My Soapbox Today

I've been down more than I've been up lately—physically, I mean. I mentioned to hubby I've been a bit slow on the uptake when we started running out of undies. He's pretty good about reminding me though. Work has been gnawing at my heels but I've pretty much resisted. Trying to keep house is a real chore but I do manage to at least change the bed linens and vacuum and mop.

I read an article that a school, I think in NY, is paying kids $5.25 an hour to attend summer school. Now, why in the world would they do that?! We pay taxes for them to go to school and then they turn around and give them that money to attend? My thinking is they should be glad to go for free to get an education. Education is their future. What's going on with this world? The Japanese kids go to school 6 days a week for longer days than here in the U.S. and are excellent students and have become smarter than most nations. Typical school day in Japan:
8am - 4pm: Classes at school
4pm - 6pm: Clubs and sports at school
6pm - 7pm: Time for a quick dinner
7pm - 10pm: Juku classes—extra classes for entrance to University
11pm: Back at home to do homework.
After midnight: Time for 5 to 6 hours of sleep.

A lot of our kids today are lazy for the most part, but they have so much potential and are just wasting it. I love kids and want them all to succeed. It's a shame. If you don't count yourself among the them, count yourself blessed. Please, please encourage your children. They are the future of our country.

When we've gone to our children's and grand-children's graduations from high school and college, it's been the students from other countries who are the top achievers. That's a sad comment to have to post but it's been accurate. This is in California of course where there is a high percentage of ethnic groups. I wish them all well. I absolutely love seeing kids whose parents have given up much to come here and make fruitful and successful lives for themselves. My daughter-in-law was one of those people. After all, this country of ours, the U.S.A., is the greatest country on earth.

Well, I warned you I'm on my soapbox today! ;-)

Good morning, and yes, you are!

Darling bedroom but I would put some curtains on that window for sure. Look at that teacup floor lamp.

Any chair can be covered in this fashion every day not just celebrations.

Imagine the hours of drawing this gown must have taken the artist.

A place so private you don't need doors, just sheer curtains.

Or a private dining area so secluded.

Vintage collection of dishes in blue and pink.

An exquisite lamp.

Another exquisite one of wood that casts the shadows carved into the lamp.

I love froufrou!

A beautiful brooch.

I was thinking of this kind of sofa/settee, but I don't think we'd like sitting on it as our primary sofa.

Creative homeowner has 3 shower curtains so she can decorate with any colors she wants.

Aaaaaaah, I do love this entrance to this home.

I'll never again look at old used cake pins the same way. ;-)
